ARIEH LOSES

Harrison Gimbel won the latest poker tournament by defeating Josh Arieh. The South Florida local needed to overcome a tough field, which included fellow prodigy Jason Mercier, WSOP star Josh Arieh and 2006 WSOP Player of the Year Jeff Madsen, and was lucky to survive the first day when his Q9 donked-out on Adam Adler’s AQ – Gimbel spiking a nine on the river to maintain his push.

"I had said 'good luck everybody' and walked away, and they all yelled 'hey, where you going? You're not out,'" an embarrassed Gimbel told the Seminole Hard Rock crowd.

Professional poker player Josh Arieh loves to play golf, and this week he picked up a unique opportunity on the links: he got to serve as caddy for John Smoltz while the latter tried to qualify for the upcoming U.S. Open, slated for June at Pebble Beach.

Smoltz is a former professional baseball player for the Atlanta Braves who unofficially retired from the sport this year as the only pitcher to record more than 200 wins and 150 saves. He is widely considered a future Hall of Famer. He and Arieh have been friends for years, so Smoltz picked the poker pro to advise him, provide support.
